Angola is located on the southwest coast of Africa and is bordered on the north and northeast by the Republic of Congo, on the east by Zambia an on the south by Namibia. On the west is it bathed by the Atlantic Ocean.

It has a coastline with 1.650 km and stretches inland over an area of 1.246.700 km2. A mountain range develops from the coast where you will find the highest peaks in the country, followed by a high plateau where the basins of the main rivers are formed: the Zaire, Cunene, Kwanza, Kubango and Queve. Its habitats range from tropical forest to open forest, savannah and there is eve a desert area to the south.

The country is divided into 18 provinces: Bengo, Benguela, Luanda (Capital) and Cabinda.

Angola's two highest peaks are located in these central highlands. They are: Moco Mountain (2,620 m) and Meco Mountain (2,538 m).
